The CHA email newsletter for August reports the death near Paris in March of Clive Perdue, BB 1956-63.

We probably all have very good friends with whom we completely lose touch, and in my case, Clive was one. We were fellow Modern Language Grecians, fellow back-stagers at the Dramatic Society, fellow wage-slaves in the summer vacation at London Zoo (catering), and we both contrived to keep our study fires burning for weeks during the great winter of 1963. We both worked for Jan von Haeften and Heinrich von Trott zu Solz in Germany, two aristocrats associated with the resistance, who gave vacation work to the former enemy as a gesture of goodwill. I last saw Clive in the mid 60s when, after a party in Fleet Street, both fairly drunk, we both chased a bus and I caught it and he didn't.

It is a shock to hear about the death of old friends even if you haven't seen them for many years.

I remember Clive from my time in Barnes B, he was a few years older than me. Good rugby player (first XV maybe) and also table tennis player on the dayroom tables.
The number of contemporary Old Blues I have known who seem to be "departing grecians" is growing in number (Noel Abel was the last and most recent).
The grim reaper is obviously lurking closer than I thought.
BTW, Geoff Bostock (Ma A then Barnes B) and probably a contemporary of Perdues, lives in France, as does Dennis Childs, one of my contemporaries. Seems that Barnes B produced the export version of Old Blues.

Yes. Clive's contemporary Keith Battarbee lives in Finland.

John, is there somebody new running the French CHA? I know John patterson stepped down but was wonering if he had been replaced...?

I would have to look up on the Cordon Bleu (back pages of the Old Blue), but the best person to ask is Wendy Killner, in the CHA office. Benelux as one, located in Germany, which may be a country too far.
