I'm sorry to report the death of Godfrey Hall on 27th January in his native Yorkshire.

Rev. Godfrey Hall was Assistant Chaplain at CH, Horsham from 1972 to 1982, whereupon he left to become Headmaster of The Prebendal School in Chichester. Later, Canon Hall, he retired in 2005 after 23 years as the cathedral school's headmaster.

That's really sad news - he can't have been very old, either.

He was one of my first teachers when I joined C.H. as a third former - History and Divinity (as it was called then).

There was, I'm afraid to report, much mimicking of his accent by our class of disrespectful pupils.

He always seemed like a truly nice bloke.

Concur with everything that Richard says; Godfrey Hall was a really nice bloke and a very kind man. We always used to mimic his accent but he never seemed to mind. It's very sad that he never got to enjoy his retirement.
